WILLIAM S. ARMSTRONG, MAGISTRATE JUDGE, DIES
William Samuel Armstrong, 73-year-old Magistrate Judge of Madison, Mo., died at 4:40 am, today in Woodland Hospital in Moberly, after suffering a stroke two days ago.
Born in Madison, the son of Hugh L. and V. Pearl Nowl Armstrong, William was a retired terminal engineer for a railroad in St. Louis. Mr. Armstrong, a veteran of WWI and WWII, was a 50-year member of the AF and AM Lodge No. 01 of Madison; the VFW; the Missouri Municipal Magistrate Judges Association; Knights Templar of Consistery and Moola Shrine of St. Louis; the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen and the Madison Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Hartshorn; one step-son, Charles Thompson, Moberly; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Robert Christie, Memphis, Tenn.; and one niece, Mrs. George Grissham, also of Memphis.
Funeral services were at the Million, Greer and Comstock Funeral Chapel by the Rev. C. W. Cornn, minister of Madison Christian Church. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Madison.
Masonic services were at the Funeral Chapel the night before services.
