MRS. G. KILLION DIES
Resident of Bourbon County 60 Years Passed Away Today.
Mrs. Effie Belle Killion of Devon, widow of George N. Killion, who died about a month ago, passed away at the family home near Centerville at 12:12 o'clock this morning. Mrs. Killion had been seriously ill for six days. Her general health had not been good for a long time.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Moore and was born April 10, 1866, at Fort Scott. She was 69 years old.
She was married to Mr. Killion at Devon March 27, 1889. Their devoted companionship was severed recently when Mr. Killion died.
Two children survive, Mrs. Edna Curtis of Devon and Floyd R. Killion of Carthage, Mo. There are also two grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers survive, Mrs. Jess Killion, Hiattville; O.W. Hall, Washington; J.J. Hall, Fort Scott, and Mrs. B.E. Gordon, La Grange, Ill.
Mrs. Killion had lived for almost 70 years in Bourbon county and for 38 years on the same farm. She was an active worker of Centerville church, although her membership was still in the United Brethren church. She was a beautiful Christian character and her loving, motherly ways endeared her to all.
The body lies in state at the home. The funeral will be at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Centerville church, conducted by the Rev. R.O. Penick of Fort Scott. Burial will be in Centerville cemetery. Pallbearers are nephews who acted at Mr. Killion's rites. The are Burt Moore, Alton Killion, Ora Killion, Ernest Johnson, Fred Killion and Paul Swain.

Rev. R.O. Penick Paid Tribute to Centerville Lady Thursday.
The funeral of Mrs. Effie Belle Killion, widow of George N. Killion, was held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Centerville church, conducted by the Rev. R.O. Penick of Fort Scott. A large concourse of friends and relatives from Fort Scott, Devon, Redfield and Mapleton attended.
There was a beautiful array of flowers, including the block inscribed "Mother," a token from the Centerville Ladies' Aid Society and pieces from numerous relatives and neighborhood friends.
W.H. Gross, Mrs. Lola Johnson, Miss Minnie Stewart and Earl Konantz, accompanied by Mrs. Harry Warren, sang "Rock of Ages" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Mr. Konantz rendered the song, "Tell Mother I'll Be There."
Mr. Penick used a text which Mrs. Killion had marked in her Bible, as she had marked many gems of scripture. It was from Rev. 2:10: "Be thou faithful unto death."
