Robert J. Advey
Mass of Christian Burial for Robert J. Advey, 88, a lifelong resident of Painesville, will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State St., Painesville.
Mr. Advey passed away March 25, 2008, at LakeEast Hospital in Painesville.
He was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Painesville.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was Fairport Harbor Yacht Club Past Commodore, ran a fruit farm in Perry, active in Scouting and school booster clubs and loved fishing.
Mr. Advey was founder and President of Lake Photo Engraving. He also worked at Diamond Shamrock Corp.
Survivors are his sons, Robert (Linda) Advey Jr., of Andover, Lawrence R. Advey of Madison, Donald J. (Sue) Advey of Mentor, John W. Advey of Painesville, Ronald A. (Kris) Advey of Painesville and Douglas S. (Margaret) Advey of Painesville; daughters, Ruth A. Mulcahy of Aurora, Laura E. (Tom) Corrigan of Painesville, Mari Advey, Rita A. (Dennis) Kohr of Leroy Township, and Rebecca J. (Rich) Merkosky of Leroy Township; grandchildren, Alex, Audra, Michelle, Allison, Caroline, Tom, Tonya, Renee, Larry, Jodie, Mark, Christopher, Jennifer, Rebecca, Dave, Rick, Angie, Jenny, Sara, Justin, Mitchell, John, Katy and BJ; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Joanne Field of Grandville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ann (Alden) Advey, who passed away in 2001; sons, Charles Advey and Thomas E. Advey; parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Lefelhoc) Advey; brother, James Advey; and sister, Rosemary Rigo.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.
