1847 - Lena Behrens Ewoldt - 1926
Lena Behrens Ewoldt was born in Holstein, Germany on September 3rd, 1847. She died at her home in Sutherland on March 16th, 1926, aged 78 years, 6 months and 13 days.

She came to America with her parents when five years of age, landing in Galveston, Texas in February, 1852.

On December 14th, 1965, she married Jochim Ewoldt at Davenport, Iowa. Mr and Mrs Ewoldt made their home in Davenport until 1871 when they moved to Tama County, Iowa. They lived there until 1892 when they came to O'Brien County. They lived upon the farm at Gaza until 1908 they moved to Sutherland.

Seven children were born to them, tow of whom preceded their mother to the better land. Hattie died in May 20th, 1924 and James died on January 11th, 1925. Besides her sorrowing husband, Jochim Ewoldt, she leaves three sons and two daughters: Hugo of Hartley, Iowa; Augusta Thielman of Davenport, Iowa; Adolph, Emil and Cora, of Sutherland, Iowa.

Funeral services from the home and the Methodist Episcopal church, were held by the pastor, Thursday, March 19th. Interment was made at Waterman cemetery.
