The Springdale News from The Rogers Democrat
August 13, 1909

Mr. Beals lived in Washington and Idaho for some time and was in his way to
visit with his sons and daughters in Northwest Arkansas, specifically Rogers. As
he was leaving Kansas City, MO, he experienced an onset of kidney trouble, which
he had suffered with most of his life. He was taken from the train that he was a
passenger on and moved to the hospital in Springfield. The physicians soon
discovered that there was no hope for recovery. He was identified by the ticket
to Rogers that he was carrying in his pocketbook. He was sixty-eight years old.
The remains were brought to Rogers, AR for burial and the funeral services were
held at the residence of his son, Howard Beals. The services were conducted by
Rev. W. R. Nelson.
