John Stephany
Dies at Age of 72
John Stephany 72 of 639 W. Ninth Ave., died Tuesday at 12:55 p.m. at Mercy Hospital, where he had been in failing health for several years.
He was born Dec. 3, 1886, in Johnsburg. Wis., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Stephany. He was married in St. Peter, Wis., to Miss Frances Kraus on Nov. 26, 1912, and they had resided an the Oshkosh area since 1914.
Mr. Stephany had been employed by Morgan Company for 33 years before his retirement in August 1956. He was a member of St Vincent's Catholic Church, Holy Name Society of the church and Quarter Century Club of Morgan Company.
Surviving are his wife, Frances, three daughters, Mrs. Michael Grabner, Mrs. Leonard Paulick and Mrs. Harvey Walter, one son, Clarence Stephany, Oshkosh; one brother Peter Stephany, Fond du Lac: two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Freund, Eden, and Mrs Matilda Wagner, Oshkosh; and 12 grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Services will be held Thursday at 8:30 a.m. at Marquardt Funeral Home and 9 a. m. at St. Vincent's Catholic Church. with Msgr. Louis N. Schorn officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from Wednesday at 2 p m. until the hour of services. The rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
