Cornelius P. Hardy and his wife, Sarah Parks, settled in Jasper County from North Carolina in 1811. Cornelius was born in Bertie County, NC. The family later moved to Lincoln County, GA, where he married Sarah Parks. With other families of the Hardy clan, he moved his family to Jasper County in 1811. He established his first home on land in the area now known as Hardy's Crossroads and near Hardy's Creek. Hardy's Crossroads is at the intersection of Highway 212 and 221.
After Sarah's death, he married Susan Harris, no issue. Cornelius and Sarah are buried in the C.P. Hardy Cemetery located 3/4 of a mile NW of Hardy's Crossroads. Turn on Blue Heron Drive and take a left; go several houses and the cemetery is up in the woods on the right. At the present time (2003) there are "No Trespassing" signs.
There were 11 children of Cornelius and Sarah.
The graves of Cornelius and Sarah Hardy bear a recent headstone provided by their decendants.
