Barbara Dean Blevans, 84, of Columbia passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Boone Hospital. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at Epple Chapel, Lenoir Woods.

Barbara was born April 14, 1930, in Columbia to the late Virgil and Viola (Slater) Pugh. On Nov. 9, 1951, she married William (Bill) Eugene Blevans in a Navy Hospital in Oakland, Calif., where Bill was stationed, and he survives.

Barbara and Bill moved where Bill’s work with Westinghouse Electric took them, including Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Las Vegas and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Barbara always accepted the task of preparing to move and setting up a new home. Barbara made friends wherever she went and most recently in Murrysville, Pa., where she leaves many good friends from the church they attended, her work with Meals On Wheels and the neighbors in the community. She and Bill moved to Columbia in October 2012 where she quickly made new friends in Lenoir Woods.

In addition to her husband, Bill, of 63 years, she is survived by, a brother, Ronald Vaughn Pugh, residing at the Bluffs; cousins, Sharon Lynch of Columbia, Don Slater of Odessa, Donna Gooch of Leroy Ill., Carmen Neely of Overland Park, Kan., Cindy Bezler of Florida, Janet Bezler of Columbia; a cousin-in-law Jeannine Bezler of Columbia; and a host of friends around the United States.
