DIED
— In Nashville, on Monday last, Mrs. Louisa P. Zollicoffer, wife of Gen. F. K. Zollicoffer.
Weekly Clarksville chronicle, Tennessee, July 17, 1857, Page 2

NOTE: Pocahontas was claimed as an ancestor by Louisa Zollicoffer's Mother Dolly Cross, who named two of their eleven children Powhatan and Louisa Pocahontas, an irony considering her husband John Gordon's renown as an Indian Fighter.  Captain John Gordon served in the Revolutionary War, but he is more famous for fighting Indians in the Creek War in 1812 and the Seminole War in 1817. In both conflicts he served under General Andrew Jackson. (Ancestry.com Member Mabyn Shingleton originally shared this on 18 Aug 2013.)
