Edward "Ed" Gardner, 81, of Olney, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Cremation rites will be accorded. There are no further plans for services at this time. Stasi-Grove Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements.

Ed was born December 17, 1929, in Richland County, the son of Walter and Lela (Crites) Gardner.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Richland County Highway Department for 35 years. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and everyone who knew and loved him.

Ed is survived by his son, Steve Gardner and his wife, Sally, of Olney; daughter, Linda Tuchmann, of Virginia, Ill.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lela Gardner, former wife, Cora Faye, and one sister, Ada Brummett.
