Lenore Watson, 88, died on Friday, July 15, 2011.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens.

Lenore was born on September 5, 1922, in Manchester, Iowa to Dan and Claire Barnd. She grew up in Manchester, IA with her three siblings, Betty, Mike and Billy and graduated high school in 1941. In 1946, she moved to Des Moines where she met Walter Watson and they were married on June 1, 1947, at the Basilica of St. John. She was a homemaker and loving mother to her children, Bill, Carole, Tom and stepdaughter Judy.

She was an active volunteer for the Democratic Party, Mercy Hospital, Bishop Drumm Care Center and Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she has been a member since 1948. She loved her family, playing cards and attending her grandchildren's activities and sports. She will always be remembered for her love of the Iowa State Cyclones and Chicago Cubs.

She is survived by her children; Tom (Wendi) Watson, Carole Watson and Bill (Marty) Watson; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; stepdaughter, Judy; sister, Betty; brothers, Mike and Billy and granddaughter, Angela.

The family will greet friends from 3 to5 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Merle Hay Funeral Home.
