Doris Stone Griffin, 89, died March 25, 2000.
Mrs. Griffin, a native of Norfolk, was the daughter of the late Everett and Ada Stone and the widow of William Charles Griffin. She was a former member of Congregational Christian Church in Norfolk. Survivors include her daughter, Joel Griffin Amland of Norfolk; her son, Phillip Stone Griffin of Winchester, Va.; her grandchildren, Vincent Ranhorn Jr., Joseph Ranhorn, Michael Amland, Phillip Griffin II, Susan Griffin; four great-grandchildren, Ian Ranhorn, Richard Griffin, Edward Griffin and Phillip Griffin III. She is also survived by her special niece, Betsy Harris of Virginia Beach; nephews F. Wallis Sasscer, Charles R. Sasscer Jr.; and niece Lillian S. Kells.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church by Father Brian Rafferty. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, No. 20 Koger Executive Center, Norfolk, VA 23502, or to Christ the King, 3401 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA 23509. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
