Carroll Eugene Brose, 80, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Marie (Bennett) Brose of Rest Haven, York.

Born October 2, 1930, in Freeland, Md., Carroll was the son of the late Milford "Tuss" Gemmill Brose and Mildred F. (Marshall) Brose.

Mr. Brose was a longtime famer who loved the land and the farming practiced by actually tilling the ground and working the soil. He owned two farms in Southern York County, his own residence and the former residence of his late parents. Carroll was a heavy equipment operator for Shrewsbury Township, Ralph Innerst, the Commonwealth of PA, and LaFarge of North America (formerly Genstar, Flintcore, and Harry T. Campbell). He was a former member of the Board of Supervisors of Shrewsbury. An avid bird watcher, he especially loved his Red Tail Hawks and Blue Herons.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, Carroll is survived by a son, Tim M. Brose and his wife, Linda of New Freedom; and three grandchildren, Jeremy M., David A., and Nikki M. Brose. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen B. Brose. .

Interment will be in New Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Stewartstown
