Succumbs Shortly After
10 A. M.—Funeral to
Be Held Monday.
A critical two-week illness shortly
after 10 o'clock this Friday
morning claimed the life of Fred
Loptien, 72, at his home here on
South Main street, nephritis being
given as the cause of his passing.
Resident of this community for
the past 62 years, Mr. Loptien had
many friends and business associates
who mourn with the surviving
members of his family today.
John Christian Frederick Loptien,
the son of Claus and Magdalena
Loptien, was born Dec. 22, 1864
in Ballaarat, Australia, and was
united in marriage to Miss Mary
E. Weltzien on Feb. 26, 1888, who
died Sept. 23, 1923. He was married
later to Mrs. Anna Kuehl on
Feb. 14, 1925, who survives.
Those who mourn Mr. Loptien in
addition to his widow are: a son
William of Sycamore; a daughter,
Mrs. Martha Corson, at Genoa; and
another son, Fred Jr. of this city.
The eldest son George died in January
of 1914. Three grandchildren,
George E. Loptien of Chicago;
Marilyn and Adah Marie Corson of
Genoa, survive. A brother August
and a sister Mis? Mary also are living.
Three brothers and a sister
preceded him.
Two stepchildren, George Kuehl
of Sycamore and Mrs. Dora Sell of
Genoa and three grandchildren,
Doris Kuehl, Belvine Kuehl and
Jackie Sell also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday
afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from
the home at 314 S. Main street and
at 2 o'clock at St. John's English
Luttfieran church, in which he had
been a lifelong member. Rev. H. E.
Tessmann will officiate. Interment
will be in Elmwood cemetery here.
