Alfred Lee Stinnette Sr.

Alfred Lee Stinnette Sr., 74, of Lynch Station, passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

He was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Lynch Station, a son of the late John Ed Stinnette and Nina Johnson Stinnette. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Mae Banks Stinnette.

He was a retired pipe fitter and plumber with Amos Pugh & Associates and was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly S. and Dennis Oliver, Concord; a son and daughter-in-law, Alfred Lee Jr. and Sonya Stinnette, Lynch Station; two grandsons, Jason L. Jennings, Bailey O. Stinnette; a granddaughter, Meredith B. Stinnette; his mother-in-law, Lillian Banks Arthur, Altavista; five sisters, Edna S. Daniel, Frances Catron, both of Altavista, Lois Farmer, Nancy Andrews, Ann Stinnette, all of Lynch Station.

The family requests that those wishing to make memorials to consider the Altavista Church of Christ Building Fund, 1301 Avondale Drive, Altavista, VA 24517 or the Altavista Fire Department.

A service will be conducted from the graveside in Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church cemetery at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, by the Rev. Lory Brafford and the Rev. Kenenth Wilson. Military honors will be given by VFW Post # 4165 and DAV Chapter # 46.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
