New Mexico's beauty and its history, which included pioneer, Kit Carson, were the inspiration for Marion's writing. She wrote both poetry and prose. Her first published book was "Chapels on the Trail." However, she is best known for her biographies, "Kit Carson: a portrait in courage" and "The Real Kit Carson." She was also a regular contributor to New Mexico Magazine. Throughout her career, Marion won several writing awards, including poet laureate of New Mexico. She was an active member of the writer's guild in Taos, a member of the Taos Chamber of Commerce, and a charter member of the writer's guild in Albuquerque. Marion traveled extensively throughout her life, conducting research for her books, staying in touch with her family, and simply enjoying the culture and beauty the world offered.
