SS No.: 209-32-7457 issued Pennsylvania
Last Residence: 16242 New Bethlehem, Clarion County, Pennsylvania
Born: 18 Jan 1900 (error, she was born Jan. 17)
Died: 16 Apr 1989
Obit. can be found in the Leader-Vindicator (Clairon) April 19, 1989. Martha passed away at the Clarion Hospital(where she had worked and retired from). She Married Lester on Dec. 24, 1918 and he passed away on Oct. 28, 1981. Lester was the son of William P. and Mary Olive (Bowley) Reed. Martha was a member of the Leisure Run Methodist Church. Surviving at the time of her death were one daughter, Phyllis (Ernest, "Smoke") Himes of New Bethlehem, Pa., two sons, Hilton "Bud" Reed of Limestone, PA., Glenn reed of Seminole, Pa., 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at the McNaughton-Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem on April 19, 1989.

"Tommy" got her nickname when she was a child playing with her brothers. Her two brothers picked a Boy-name for themselves and she said "I be Tommy!" The name stuck.

Tommy smoked her own Ham and bacon, she and les raised there own beef, she churned her own butter, pies and cookies were made from scratch (and I mean "SCRATCH"). Her home cooked meals were beyond compare.

I could go on forever, but I will let her tell you what kind of person she was, in her own words, with a prayer she wrote herself.

"Just a Prayer" When I lay down tonight to sleep I thank you dear Lord for a day well spent. I ask you to waken me in the morn all refreshed to tackle another day. Please watch over my footsteps that I may not stumble over the rocks of time. I thank you God for the many things you have done for me, and most of all I thank you that there is a God to come and pray. I thank you for all three of my children, and all my grandchildren and great-grandchildren when I pray every morn and eve. I don't ever forget one. Please give me the strength, ability and faith to know there is no one who can help but you, dear Lord. When I can no longer do for myself, please be merciful and take me quick, that I may not linger for anyone to have to care for me, but you.

Rest In Peace, Aunt Tommy
