Funeral services for Fred Kelly Mahaffey, 72 of Gilbert, LA will be held at Chase Cemetery on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Jerry Goodman officiating. Interment will follow at Chase Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial.
Fred Mahaffey was born on January 14, 1939 in Morton, Mississippi and passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at his residence in Gilbert. He was a pipe welder working offshore and on the pipeline and retired from Wire Electric of West Monroe. He was a member of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Crowville Masonic Lodge. He served in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by: Parents- James Luther and Helen (Wingate) Mahaffey, Wife-Rosa Lea Mahaffey, 2 Brothers-Bill Mahaffey and Jack Mahaffey, Sister-Mary Lou Mahaffey, 2 Brothers-in-Law-Harvey Pepper and Darrell Spence.
Survivors include: His 2 Sons-Jay Mahaffey and wife Jill Fletcher of Cleveland, MS, and Kelly Len Mahaffey of Denver, CO, 2 Brothers-Rex Mahaffey of Winnsboro, LA and Earl Mahaffey and Rhoda of Flora, MS, 4 Sisters-Linda Pepper of Delhi, LA; Lydia Weems of Delhi, LA; Patsy Spense of Crowville, LA; and Nell Whitney and husband Chuck of Choudrant, LA;Sister-in-Law-Carolyn Mahaffey of Ruston, LA, Grandchildren-Katy Elizabeth Mahaffey and Amanda Nicole Mahaffey.
