THE MARTINSVILLE REPUBLICAN
March 4, 1875

Eliza Tansey, wife of Jesse Tansey, died on the 25 inst. Her health had been poor for several months past, but nothing dangerous was apprehended until a few days ago, when she was seized with typhoid pneumonia and lived but a few days. She was one of the pioneers of the county. The community has lost a good Christian woman, an able and effective worker in the temperance cause, and one who was always fearless to do her duty in the cause of right.
