Mrs. Schoonmaker was a resident of Lyme until 1952, (when she married Eli C. Schoonmaker), where she was the dietician and nurse at Lyme Consolidated School. She was also a member of Lyme Grange and Lyme Congregational Church.
She graduated from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Boston and was a member of the Westerly Hospital Nurses Association.
She was first married to Gerald E. Ludwig.
Mrs Schoonmaker was survived by Mr Schoonmaker, and a son of Chicago and a daughter of Voluntown; two stepsons, Frank A. and Donald E. Schoonmaker, both of Ledyard; a brother, George W. Lowery of New London; two sisters, Mrs. Edna (Latham) Avery of Ledyard and Mrs. Ruth (Robert P.) Russell of Melrose, MA, and three grandchildren.
