Matilda (Lowery) Ludwig Schoonmaker was a nurse at Westerly Hospital for ten years, and lived at 139 Old Brook Street in Noank. She died at Rita's Convalescent Hospital after being ill for six months.

Mrs. Schoonmaker was a resident of Lyme until 1952, (when she married Eli C. Schoonmaker), where she was the dietician and nurse at Lyme Consolidated School. She was also a member of Lyme Grange and Lyme Congregational Church.

She graduated from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Boston and was a member of the Westerly Hospital Nurses Association.

She was first married to Gerald E. Ludwig.

Mrs Schoonmaker was survived by Mr Schoonmaker, and a son of Chicago and a daughter of Voluntown; two stepsons, Frank A. and Donald E. Schoonmaker, both of Ledyard; a brother, George W. Lowery of New London; two sisters, Mrs. Edna (Latham) Avery of Ledyard and Mrs. Ruth (Robert P.) Russell of Melrose, MA, and three grandchildren.
