Stanley "Pye" Sherek, 81, Biwabik, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 1996, in Buchanan Nursing Home in Chisholm.
He was a lifelong Biwabik resident. On Oct. 2, 1937, he married Ann Kocjancich in Aurora. He was a section worker and bridge maintenance worker for the DM&IR for more than 25 years. In 1963, he began working for Mesabi Blasting Agent and retired in 1976, after 13 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; a son, David of Biwabik; two daughters, Kathleen Sherek of Biwabik and Jean Macleod of Bairnsdale, Australia; two sisters, Anna Strain of Reading, Pa., and Mary Berknes of Biwabik; four brothers, Peter, Frank, Tony and Louis, all of Biwabik; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services: will be in the spring in Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik. Arrangements are by Ziemer-Moeglein Funeral Home in Gilbert.
