David Gilbert Garrett, 76, well known farmer of Star Valley and Idaho Falls, died at an Idaho Falls hospital early Monday morning of a heart condition.
He was born April 30, 1880, at Nephi Utah, son of George and Harriet Broadhead Garrett. He was married to Jane Robbins Johnson July 26, 1910, at Blackfoot. After their marriage they moved to Alpine where he was engaged in farming. Previous to that time he farmed for the Austin Brothers Sheep Co for many years.
In 1945 he moved to Idaho Falls where he was employed by the Idaho Falls stock-men until Sept 27, 1955 when he became ill.
He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Harriet Mayes, Idaho Falls; Idela Luthi of Grace, Idaho; Celia Hibben of Spokane Wash.; and one step-son, George D. Johnson of Etna, Wyo.; by 30 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; one brother Samuel R. Garrett of Burley; two sisters Mrs Bertha Galland of Salt Lake City and Mrs Vera Liddard of Provo.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at '1 p.m. at the Idaho Falls Eighth Ward,with Bishop Delmar E, Simpson, officiating. Speakers were Lorin Roberts of Etna and E.V. Stosich, with the obituary being given by Bishop Simpson.
Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The grave was dedicated by Jay Garrett.
