James Arthur Britton, 70, of 224 East Andre died September 2, at Gratiot Community Hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. Mr. Britton had been in failing health for about six months.
Mr. Britton was born in West Virginia August 18, 1889, and lived in Mt. Pleasant for 27 years. He was an oil driller by occupation before ill health forced his retirement. He worked for National Tank Company in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 4 with interment at Riverside Cemetery. Reverend William Evans will officiate.
Surviving is his wife, Emma; two sons, Stanley S. Britton of Concord and Wayne of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Mrs. Eulah Deeter of North Redondo Beach, California and Mrs. Alberta Arnold of Pentwater; two sisters and one brother of West Virginia.
