She was born July 28, 1928, in May Township, Christian County, the daughter of Nathan Rolland & Rosa (Long) Coffey. She married Robert F. McConnell on August 28, 1945 in Taylorville. Mrs. McConnell was a retired farmer and homemaker.
She is survived by her sons: Robert (Toni) McConnell, Jr. of OK, Gary (Debbie) McConnell of Kincaid, IL, Daniel McConnell of Edinburg, IL and Lyndon (Pam) McConnell of Taylorville. Daughters: Sharon (Ron) Sutzer of Chatham & Mardell McConnell (companion, Penny) of TN. Thirteen grandchildren. Fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Sister: Lucy Neenan of CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m on Sunday, July 17, 2011 in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 18, 2011 in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville with burial in Old Stonington Cemetery Stonington. Rev. Linda Vonck will officiate.
Mrs. McConnell was of the Methodist faith. She was very active in the farming and cattle industry for 60 yrs. She enjoyed the Red Hats, her trips to Vegas and the cabin at Branson. She loved her grandchildren, canning and cooking and country music, especially Bill Anderson.
