Miss Lottie DeWeese was born in Miami County, Ohio, August 24, 1830.
Departed this life March 26, 1911, aged 80 years, 7 months and 2 days.
She was united in marriage to Asa F. Fordyce April 5, 1868, with whom she lived until
his decease in 1888. After their marriage they located on a farm in Miami County, near Piqua, Ohio, where they lived for several years, then coming to Shelby county and locating on a farm east of the Plum Creek church.
In the year 1906, the decesaed again changed the place of her residence when she went to Anna,
Ohio to live. Here in her little cottage with her niece, Miss Clara DeWeese, she quietly spent the days of her declining years until being summoned by a kind Providence to occupy that habitation not made with hands. But one child, a daughter who died at birth, was born to her and yet Aunt Lottie was never without children who loved to call her Grandma and she in turn seemed as much in love with the little ones as though they were her own. Mrs. Fordyce was a woman of delicate health for many years. Even when but a young woman hardly a year passed without bringing her some bodily affliction. She suffered much but bore it all patiently, resigning herself to the confidence that God knoweth bestand doeth all things well. She looked forth with hope and fond anticipation to
the time when it would be her happy lot to lay aside earthly life with its impediments and be called hence to live the free, unhindered life of the Spirit.
At times when she suffered most there would come to her the thought of those greatly beloved who had gone on before long since and at such times she would express her desire to depart and be with them. Of her five brothers and four
sisters, all preceded her to the realm of spirit with the exception of one sister, Mrs. J.S. Crozier, of Sidney, Ohio. She was converted when but a child and first united with the Reformed church, later with the Methodist Episcopal
church at Plum Creek and finally with the Metodist Episcopal church at Anna, Ohio, where she remained a faithful and honored member until being exalted to membership in the church triumphant.
We can say of this beautiful and sainted woman that earth has one angel less and heaven one more since yesterday. Already, keeling at the throne, she hath received her welcome and is resting on the bosom of her Saviour. No more
befitting thoughts could fill our hearts as we think of our departed sister than are contained in these lines:
Life's race well run,
Life's work well done;
Life's crown well won,
Now comes rest.
