Services for Mildred "Blondie" Scoggins, of Monticello, are 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello. Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.Mrs. Scoggins, 85, died Nov. 24, 2008, at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello. She was born on April 8, 1923, to Lynn Smith and Corelia Dickerson Smith.She was a retired retail clerk from the former Jerry's Shop in Monticello. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William Troy Scoggins; her four brothers, Henry, Buddy, Vernon and Edgar Smith; and a sister, Charlean Carr. Survivors are her a son, William Troy Scoggins III, of Star; a daughter, Shirley J. Fredette, of Monticello; her sisters, Lizzie Farmer and Francis King, both of Monticello; her seven grandchildren; and her 19 great-grandchildren.
