Claude C. Dickerson, 102, Ionia County's second oldest resident and the oldest resident of Palo, died Monday at a Greenville nursing home after a two-year illness.

Mr. Dickerson was born Aug. 16, 1877, in Ronald Township, Ionia County, the son of George and Oressa Dickerson. He attended rural schools and was a farmer in Ronald Township his whole life.

He was married to Maude Petteys in February 1897. She preceded him in death in September 1958.

He is survived by one son, Ben Dickerson of Greenville, twin daughters, Mrs. Marie Southworth of Lyons, Mrs. Marion Humphrey of Grand Ledge; one sister, Mrs. Myra Mattison of Ionia; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the North Plains Community Church with the Rev. Norman Mincemoyer and the Rev. Paul Carmichael officiating. Burial will be in North Plains Cemetery.

Mr. Dickerson will repose until noon Thursday at the Hull Memorial Chapel in Muir.
