Garland R. Ferneyhough, 66, of Waynesboro, died at his home on Sunday, April 9, 2006. Born November 27, 1939, in Albemarle County, he was the son of the late Charlie Roy and Fontaine "Polly" Morris Ferneyhough. Garland was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Herring Ferneyhough; and brothers, Charlie, Frank, Wallace, Arthur and Howell. He is survived by his sons, Clay Ferneyhough and his wife, Fay, and Charles Ferneyhough; his stepson, Edward DiMarco and his wife, Barbara; his brothers, Milton and his wife, Ferne, of Charlottesville, David and his wife, Cindy, of Sumter, South Carolina and Alvin and his wife, Sumiko, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his grandchildren, Jessica Ferneyhough Wilkins and her husband, Darren, Joel Michael Ferneyhough, Jeremy Ferneyhough and Ashton Ferneyhough; several great and step grandchildren, all of Charlottesville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Garland graduated from Lane High School in 1958, and was a local commercial printer for Bailey Printing and Jefferson Printing for many years. He was a co-founder, along with Jimmy Davis, of the Lane 14-year old All-Star Tournament. Although Garland's spirit is gone, his memory will live on. A memorial service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2006, at the Teague Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lane Babe Ruth Baseball League.
