Joy was my little sister. Her middle name was actually spelled Faye.
OBIT:
"JOY FAY JONES"
" VINITA, OKLA. -- Joy Fay Jones, 49- year old Vinita resident, passed away Monday, June 3,2002 as a result of an automobile accident.
Joy was born April 17, 1953 to Claude and Mary Jane (Straw) Englehardt. She graduated from Big Cabin High School, and worked as a nurse's aide at Eastern State Hospital and Miller Cozy Home.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: one daughter, Amanda Michelle Jones of the home, one son Charles Lee Jones, Jr. of Chelsea, one sister Anita Myrick of Kremlin, Okla.; one brother Jeff and one grandchild, Christopher Marvin Akers.
Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 10, at the Burchhalter Memorial Chapel. Rev. Will Busch officiated. There was a cremation afterwards and burial will be at a later date in Chelsea Cemetery."

She and our cousin Barbara White-Comstock were killed by a woman failing to stop an approaching highway hitting Joy's car broadside in the drivers door at 65 mph.
Joy and Barbara wanted to stay home away from the lake for Memorial day weekend because of the number of people drinking and driving. They decided to go the Monday afterward, a much safe day to go their thinking.
This ran in the OKLAHOMAN June 4th, 2002
"TWO VINITA WOMAN KILLED MONDAY IN A MAYES COUNTY WRECK, THE OKLAHOMA PATROL SAID."
"Dead are Joy Faye Jones 40, Vinita.
Barbara J. Comstock 64, Vinita
Jones was driving southbound on a county road about 2:35 p.m. when her car was hit by a westbound pickup at an uncontrolled intersection, the patrol said.
Jones and Comstock were killed on impact, a passenger, Amanda Jones 12, the daughter of Joy, was flown to a Tulsa hospital Monday with head, arm and leg injuries. She was in good condition Monday the patrol said.
The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital in Tulsa of minor injuries and was released."

Notice the statement given the papers by Ok. Highway Patrol gave the wrong age of my sister. Also in the obit given by my cousin list me as Anita Myrick, Barbara's mother Gail White that raised me always called me Nita because I reminded her of her baby sister Bonita.
