From his son's WPA bio: Mr. Brausen came to Cross Plains, Wisconsin at first from Germany, then in 1885 he moved to Pierz, MN with his family, renting the John Rauch farm, then owned by Mr. Salsbury. This they lived on for five years. After that they moved onto the Joseph Eich farm in Buckman, MN which is now owned by Mr. John L. Dehler, this they rented till the year 1910 when Mr. Dehler purchased same. They then moved onto the Buckman farm which his son Jacob rented at the time. Mr. Peter J. Brausen died July 20, 1924 and Mrs. Magdalena Brausen his wife died in 1926. Both are buried in the St. Michael' s cemetery at Buckman, MN. He lived for four days after his accident. [His cause of death is listed as congestion of lungs & fracture of ribs caused by runaway horse.]
