Gemma (Gagliardi) Carrabis of Melrose, formerly of Everett, died at her home on Saturday, Jan. 5, after a long illness.
A native of Everett, she graduated from Everett High School in 1936 & attended Boston University. She had lived in Melrose for the past 38 years.
Mrs. Carrabis had worked as a saleswoman at Sears in Saugus for 13 years from 1960 to 1973 &she was a member of the Ladies Auxillary of Saugus VFW Post.
The wife of Anthony Carrabis; she was the mother of Catherine K. Carrabis of Melrose & Rosemary Goodwin of Tewksbury. She was the sister of Palma Furno
& Esther Cataruzolo both of Saugus, Frank Gagliardi of Revere, Danta Gagliardi of Lunenburg & the late David Gagliardi. She also leaves a granddaughter, Kristin Goodwin of
Tewksbury & many nieces & nephews.
A funeral was held from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday,Jan. 8 & a mass was said in the Most Blessed Sacrement Church in
Greenwood. Burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 247 Commonwealth Ave., Boston.
