MEMORIAL SERVICE
FOR BENJAMIN ALVINE
The memorial service for Benjamin William Alvine was held at the Crane Funeral Home Friday afternoon, April 19, at 3:00, with Dr. George G. Hint of the Methodist church officiating. Miss Marcella TeWalt and Marvin long sang and Mrs. Dan Winter played the organ; Pallbearers were John Lauger, Elwood Williams, Claude Taft, Everett Wright, William Sater, And Dick Newton. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery.
Benjamin William Alvine, son of Daniel B. and Johanna Peterson Alvine, was born at Olds, Ia., July 19, 1874, and passed from this life at the Memorial Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, April 15, 1946. All of his was spent in Henry County.
In young manhood he married Rella Plants, and to this union one son, LeRoy was born. A few years after the death of his wife, he was united in marriage with Stella wood of Wayland. They were the parents of a son and daughter, William and Katherine. She passed away November 3, 1927.
Mr. Alvine is survived by his two sons, Leroy o Long Beach, California and William of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter Mrs. Katherine Hayward of Mt. Pleasant; three grand-children; one sister, Mrs. Martin Jacobson of Tacoma, Washington; two brothers; Oscar of Keosauqua, and Sam of Sioux Falls, S. D.
By trade Mr. Alvine was a painter. For twenty years he served on the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department and for ten years was a member of the city police force. He held membership in the Order of Odd Fellow.
