Funeral services for former Louisa resident Hobert M. Carter, 83, of Columbus, were conducted December 7 in Morgan Creek Church with burial in Carter Cemetery, Louisa. Mr. Carter died December 4 in Columbus following an extended illness. Mr. Carter was born November 13, 1898, in Louisa, a son of the late Sam and Flora Brown Carter. He was a retired employee of Columbia Gas of Kentucky, Inc. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Powell and Mrs. Frances Adams both of Columbus, Mrs. Louise Maynard of Louisa and Mrs. Lola Elans and Mrs. Faye Owens, both of Nashville, TN; five sons, Millard and Kenneth Carter, both of Columbus, Tommy Carter of Beckley, wV, Glen Carter of Huntington, Earl Carter of Louisa, two sisters, Mrs. Florence Tedder of Santa Monica, CA, and Mrs. Marsha Ison of Greenup, three brothers, Thurman and Ora J. Carter both of Greenup and Drew Carter of Portsmouth; 35 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Big Sandy News, December 9, 1981
