David Lyman Dabell, 74 an East Idaho lumber dealer for 43 years, died Sunday night at a Rexburg hospital of a lingering illness, complicated by pneumonia.

He was born Feb. 16, 1889 at Lewisville, a son of Alonzo K. and Julia Taylor Dabell. He was educated in the schools of that area. He was a veteran of World War I having served with the Medical Corps.

He was married Dec 24, 1919 to Geneva Randall at Rigby.

Mr. Dabell operated his first lumber yard at Sugar City, beginning in 1920. He subsequently managed yards at St. Anthony, Idaho Falls and at Rexburg. At the time of his death he was president of the Montana-Idaho Lumber Co., Rexburg.

He had been president of the Rexburg Chamber of Commerce, head of the Madison County ration board during World War II, chairman of the Madison Memorial Hospital Board for several years and headed the first fund drive for that institution. He had also been a member of the State Hospital Board.

Survivors include his widow, one son, David R. Dabell, and one granddaughter. Three brothers, Lynn Dabell, Glendale, calif.; P. W. Dabell, Moreland and Preslon Dabell, Idaho Falls; six sisters, Mrs. Maude Snyder; Mrs. Clara Adams, and Mrs. Merie Rigby all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Lucille Williams, Rigby; Mrs. Jennie Johnson and Mrs. Hattie Middleton, Rexburg, also survive.
