A Sad and Fatal Accident. James Hayden, son of Alonzo Hayden, Esq., of North Duxbury, was killed on Friday, the 22nd of July, in the twenty-second year of his age.
He went to the woods in company with his father to procure a small stick of timber. The tree they selected lodged in falling, and as they were about to remove the obstruction the branch upon which the tree leaned that they desired to obtain, gave way, and as it commenced falling young Hayden exclaimed, "take care of yourself, father," and in the excitement of the moment ran to the spot upon which the tree fell, crushing him to the earth. He lived but a short time after he was conveyed to his house. He was a young man of excellent character, and has left a large circle of friends to mourn their loss. D.
