John Thomas Crowe, 74, of Yuma, Ariz., died Aug. 10, 2009, in Yuma, Ariz.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Arlington. The Rev. Paul Meismer will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Arlington, with military rites by VFW Post 4079.
Arrangements were provided by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Mr. Crowe was born July 27, 1936, in Arlington to Albert C. and Marcella (Boyland) Crowe.
He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952 and obtained the rank CWO4 before retiring after 33 1/2 years as a captain. He served in many areas including Korea, Cuba and Vietnam. He was transferred to Yuma in 1979 where he retired.
Survivors are one daughter, Cynthia (Russell) Hanel of Santa Clara, Calif.; two sons, Steven (Elizabeth) Crowe of Riverside, Calif., and John (Doreen) Crowe of Lake Forest, Calif.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his companion of 26 years, Jane, and her son, John Guy; one sister, Mary Stanton of Princeton; and the mother of his children, Garnet Crowe of California.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Memorials may be directed to Knights of Columbus chapter at MCAS, Yuma, Ariz.
