John C. Ames
John C. Ames, 68, Chouteau county rancher and farmer, died Monday morning, Feb. 22, 1985, in Great Falls, after an extended illness.
He was born in the west room of the Ames family homestead, and attended Fort Benton schools, graduating with honors. He took great pride in managing his ranching and cattle operation northwest of Fort Benton.
John was an avid reader all his life, enjoying American art, and raising award-winning flowers. He never married but his family included many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lena and Charles Ames, and his brothers, James and Byron. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Bronec of Geraldine and Mrs. Velma Romenesko of Great Falls, and fourteen nieces and nephews in the U. S. and Europe.
Funeral mass will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Fort Benton. Burial will be in Geraldine cemetery.
