Luella R. Croy, 90, of Findlay passed away at 6:35 AM on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Birchaven Village, Findlay. Luella was born on February 24, 1921 to the late Earl and Mamie (Foltz) Shives in Oakland, IL. Luella married Thomas Charles Croy on June 5, 1940 in Findlay, and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2002. Luella is survived by son, Thomas C. (Linda) Croy of Findlay; daughter, Ann (Bill) Manley of Findlay; two sisters: Margaret Talbott of Phoenix, AR and Naomi Hathaway of Findlay; six grandchildren: Babette (John) Tuohy, Bill (Gina) Manley, Scott (Jodie) Manley, Tim Manley, Matt (Heidi) Croy, and Ashley Croy; and nine great-grandchildren. Luella was also preceded in death by one great-grandchild. Luella worked for many years at Croys IGA, was the bookkeeper for Croys Inc./Hancock Homes and owner of Croys T.C. & Son. Luella loved to work and did so in the office until she was 88 years old. She was a member of Howard United Methodist Church, where she was the Memorial Chairwoman and formerly active with the church youth for many years. Luella was also a former Den Mother and leader of the Wa-Ki-A Camp Fire Group. Luella had also worked for many years at the Howard United Methodist Church Fair Tent at the Hancock County Fair. Luella loved her family dearly. She also enjoyed mowing, gardening, canning, fishing, and attending her grandchildren's activities. Luella was very active at the church and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye Fan. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 AM at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the funeral home. Pastor Jennifer Burns will officiate and burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay. Memorials may be made to the Howard United Methodist Church Memorial Fund and/or charity of the donor's choice.
