Funeral Services were held Monday 9:30 AM, from the Zieren.Day Funeral Home to St. Mary's Church for James J. Ruyle 58 years old WWII Vetran. Who died at the Cochran Veteran Hospital in St. Louis, MO at 4:00 AM Friday. The Rev Father Joseph A. Duehren officiated and enterment was in St. Mary's Cemetery. There were Military Rites at the gravsite.
Mr Ruyle was born in Greenville, Bond Co., IL, May 03 1907, son of James Monroe Ruyle and Bertha Pierce. He and Nora V. (Row) Allen were married March 2, 1946, and have been residents of Carlyle since their marriage. He was employed at the paper mill and later was Maintenance man at St. Mary's Home.
Mr & Mrs Ruyle were the first to sell their home to the U.S.Corps of Engerniers fo the construction of the Carlyle dam;
Mrs. Ruyle survives along with four step-children, Alfred Allen, of Greenville, Elmer Allen of Bethany Oklahoma, Virginia May of Greenville and Charles Allen of Tulsa Oklahoma. A Sister preceded him in death.
During WWII Mr. Ruyle was in the 144th Station Hospital Organization, served in the Luzan (The assault on Luzon was launched, as planned, on 9 January 1945, codenamed S-day.) and South Phillippines Campaign (Southern Philippines Campaign (27 Feb 45 - 4 Jul 45). He was a member of The American Legion.
