Died: Nashville, Tennessee at the home of his son Hugh L Craighead
Knoxville Daily Journal, Tuesday, 1 Oct 1889
We are called to make the sad announcement of the death of Mr. Robert Craighead. A telegram to Dr. Park yesterday at 2:30 p.m. informed him of the event which occurred at 12:20 p.m. yesterday at the residence of his son, Hu L Craighead, in Nashville. He was a native of Knoxville and one of our oldest and most respected citizens - well and widely known. He was a man of great purity and uprightness of life and faithful in all his relations. Amiable in disposition and refined and gentle in manners, he was loved by all who knew him. His business qualities were unquestioned and his honor untarnished. He held many positions of trust and was faithful in all. He was 73 years old and for forty-four years before his death was a consistent member of the First Presbyterian Church. His friends had heard nothing of his illness prior to the announcement of his death. The remains will be brought to this city and interred with kindred dust in Gray cemetery, on Wednesday. The funeral services will be held in the First Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Transcribed by Robert McGinnis, James White Fort
