William Sherman is the son of William Sherman and Prudence Hill.He married Desire Doty as her first husband on Dec. 25, 1667 and together they had six children:
Wm. Sherman,#2 served in King Phillips war, in 1676, and sustained injuries, for which in 1678, his family received 20 pounds from the Colony. During the war (with others) he was made a prisoner by the Indians, and was compelled by them to witness their cruel treatment of some of the prisoners in consequence of which as the record says, "He fell distracted." At one time he served as constable.
