Mr. Scism passed away on Monday, October 17, 1983 at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti at the age of 69 years.
He was born on November 27, 1913 in Leach, Oklahoma to the late Emory and Anna Mae Simpson Scism. On November 28, 1971, in Wardell, he was married to Naomi Riddick.
Mr. Scism is survived by his wife, Naomi Riddick of Wardell; six sons, Dale Scism, Kenneth Scism, Hearl Scism, Jearl Scism, Larry Scism, and Ray Dean Scism of Nevada, Missouri; four daughters, Margaret Harless of California, Shirley Bear of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Beverly Swail of Independence, Missouri and Sandra Clark of Illinois; one step-daughter, Rhonda Riddick Kincade of Memphis; one brother, Clyde Scism of Siloam, Arkansas; three sisters, Mae Bramwell of Siloan, Arkansas, Mildred Van Hauser of Oklahoma and Hazel of California; 28 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and two children, Neverly Joy and Gale Dewayne.
Pallbearers were Johnny Walker, Joe Rogers, Jim McCord, Vernon Williams, Leon Curtis and V.F. Hankins.
Honorary pallbearers were Mames Donaldson, Henry Acom, Dallas Hickerson, Ed Brogdon, J.B. Mathis, Raymond Windham, Woodrow Burlison, Ralph Terrell, Sonnie Walker and Charles Maroney.
The Jimmy Osburn Funeral Home of Wardell was in charge of arrangements.
