She was born on February 6, 1904 to William Robert and Ola Jane Harris Townsend in Citrus County. She had three siblings: Annie Dora Townsend Spivey Syfett, William Robert Townsend, Jr. and Thomas Edward Townsend.

She was the Widow of Harvey L. Bertram "Bert" Mangum and was a housewife.

She was buried at the Magnolia Cemetery in Lecanto, Florida. Hardage & Sons of 4115 Hendricks Avenue in Jacksonville, Florida was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

DOROTHY E. PEARL MANGUM, 77, of Jacksonville died Saturday. Born in Istachatta, Fla., she moved to Jacksonville from Lecanto in 1964. She was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She is survived by two sons, the Rev. Frank M. Pearl Jr. and Charles L. Pearl Sr.; one daughter, Mary Lou Townsend; one brother, Tom Edd Townsend; one sister, Annie D. Syphrett; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Inverness chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
