Born in Omaha, Neb., she was a longtime Yuba-Sutter resident. She moved to Yuba City in 1953 after living in San Francisco and Marin County, later residing in Brussels, Belgium, before returning to the Yuba-Sutter area in 1982.
She owned antiques stores in San Francisco and Yuba City.
She was a graduate of Central High School in Omaha, Neb., and Smith College in Hampton, Mass.
From 1941 to 1944 she served with the American Red Cross in England, managing base recreation clubs for U.S. enlisted servicemen.
Her memberships included the Junior League of San Francisco, St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary, Town and Country Club, the women's annex of the San Francisco Golf and Country Club and, in Yuba City, Alpha Sigma and Fortnightly.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Percy Rideout of Yuba City; a daughter, Tamsen Weekes of Buhl, Idaho; and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lucy Rideout, and a sister, Harriet Kelly Dowling.
