Chico Record, Thursday Morning, March 14, 1935, pg 2 col 4: Alice Schooling Taken By Death. Mrs. Alice Schooling, 62, a native of Sacramento, died early yesterday morning at the Marybill ranch south of Chico, where she had resided the last four years.

She is survived by two brothers, Joseph and George Gray, Stockton; a sister, Mrs. Grace Mullen of Chico; three daughters, Mrs. Florence Spencer, Redding; Mrs. Stella Crumpler, Durham; Mrs. William Holland, Durham; and two sons, Gilbert and Cecil Schooling, both of Durham. Funeral arrangements are pending at the H.C. Bicknell Funeral Home.

Durham News, Friday March 22, 1935, pg 4, col 3: "Rites Held for Mrs. Schooling. Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Schooling, who died Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Holland, of the Marybill ranch, were held at 2 o'clock Friday in the chapel of the H.C. Bicknell funeral home, the Rev. E.A. Griffith of the Durham Community church officiating. Mrs. C.B. Griffith, accompanied by Mrs. Dorothy McCombs, sang 'Have Thine Own Way, Lord' and 'Just for Today.'

"Burial was in the family plot in the Chico cemetery, the pallbearers being J.R. Henderson, L. Hite, Orville Rhodes, D.C. Crandall, J.A. Parker and E.J. Merrifield."
