MADISON - Margarette (Lerum) Leidel, died on Saturday, April 7, 2007, at home after three months of tender loving care by Hospice. She was born on July 12, 1921, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Eugene and Syphrona (Underwood) Austin. Margarette and her husband, Frederick, liked to travel, visiting much of the United States, Southern Canada and Europe. She made multiple trips to Hawaii and Great Britain. Margarette also visited Australia, New Zealand, Israel and Kenya. She was not a good flyer, but she really enjoyed her three Atlantic crossings in the Concorde. Margarette was a past matron of Starlite Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and had many offices and responsibilities in Eastern Star at the local, state and national levels. She was a near charter member of Lake Edge Lutheran Church, taught Sunday school and co-chaired the older adults. Margarette was a loving wife, mother and a dedicated homemaker. She enhanced her homemaking ability with courses at Madison Area Technical College. Margarette was very proud of her sons and their accomplishments. She is survived by her loving husband, Frederick Leidel; three sons, a step-son & step-daughter; two granddaughters; nieces; nephews; and many friends. Margarette was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Norman Lerum; a sister, Viola Worland; and four brothers, Clifford, Arthur, Robert and Donald. Funeral services will be held at LAKE EDGE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4032 Monona Drive on April 12, 2007, with the Rev. Richard Blomker presiding. Burial will be in Spring Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, Keyeser.
