Lillian Sterritt was born about November 1872 in Illinois. Her father was born in Indiana and her mother in Illinois. She married an unknown Lutz, born Germany, and had two children: Perry in 1893 and Elsie in 1894. Her husband died in either 1894 or 1895, as she was living alone with her two children in the 1895 Marion County, Oregon census. According to the 1900 census, she married Albert Vredenburg in 1896 according to the 1900 census, where they were living in Milwaukie, Clackamas, Oregon. Albert and Lilly had three children of their own:
Alta May Vredenburg, born in Oregon in 1898
Charles Elton Vredenburg, born in Oregon in 1899
Eddie Vredenburg, born and died in Oregon in 1902

Lilly died sometime in 1902 of consumption according to the book, Legacy of Love, written by Edyth Elizabeth (Jones) Spriggs, daughter of William James Jones and Mary Ann Hutchinson (adoptive parents of Lilly's son Perry Lutz).
