She was the daughter of Clarence Edward Holmes (1884-1974) and Ella D (only) 'D'Mammy' Martin Holmes (1890-1980).

Her sibling: Roy Edward Holmes Sr (1908-1976).

Matalee first married Lee Lantrip (1911-1930) about 1927 in Mannington, Kentucky. Lee died of strep throat and double pneumonia. He worked in the coal mines. Lee is buried in Mannington, Kentucky - probably in Petersburg Cemetery.

Their child: Jackie Lee Lantrip (1928-2007).

Matalee moved to Indianapolis about 1938 and her son, Jack, moved there in 1943 when he was 15. Between 1938 and 1943 Jack lived with his maternal grandmother, D'Mammy Holmes in Mannington, Kentucky.

Matalee second married Nile E Tracy (1906-1967) on May 23, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana. They divorced before 1956. They had no children.

Matalee third married James Eugene 'Gene' Dakins (1916-1979) on August 31, 1956 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

MRS JAMES E DAKINS DIES; SERVICES FRIDAY

Services for Mrs Matalee L Dakins, 62, 1514 North Gladstone Avenue, will be held at 3 pm Friday in Shirley Brothers Drexel Chapel, with burial in Washington Park Cemetery.

She died Tuesday in Community Hospital.

A native of Mannington,Ky, she hadlivedin Indianapolis 45 ylears. She retired in 1971 after working at Bio-Dynamics Inc for six years. Before that she had worked at RCA Corporation for 25 years.

Mrs Dakins was a member of the Englewood Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include the husband, James E Dakins; a son, Jack L Lantrip of Indianapolis, and her parents, Mr and Mrs Clarence Holmes of Mannington, KY.
