A native of Yadkin County, he was the son of the late George Herman and Maude Reavis Steelman. He was also preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers. Mr. Steelman was retired from Container Corporation of America after forty-five years of employment. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church and loved hunting, golf, and playing baseball.
Mr. Steelman is survived by his loving wife, of sixty years, Shirley Steelman; three daughters, Kathy Everett and husband Wayne of Shelby, Denise Hamrick and husband Roland of Shelby, Renee Steelman of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; one brother, R.L. Steelman and wife Betty of Yadkinville; four grandchildren, Rebecca James, Jenny Everett, Jacob Hamrick, and Erin Stroud; and one great grandchild, Jessi James.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m. Thursday prior to the service
