A native of Capeleville, Tenn.,she was the daughter of the late Cary Harvey Harrison and Ruth Robert Harrison. A graduate of Whitehaven High School in Memphis, she later attended Texas State College for Women. She enlisted in the U. S. Army during World War II and honorable served her country. She married Johnnie B. Parker of Plantersville on April 14, l946. He died in l989. Jennie V. was a homemaker and a dedicated United Methodist all her life. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Tupelo and a visiting member of First Methodist Church in Brandon.

For 48 years, she was a member of Plantersville United Methodist Church. She lived in Tupelo 9 years before moving to Brandon in 2003. For the last 2 years she had been a resident of the State VA home. Mrs. Parker was an avid supporter of the American Family Radio. She was a lifelong community volunteer with the American Cancer Society , the American Red Cross, a member of the Eastern Star, officer of the United Methodist Women and an avid support of the U. S. military.

Jane Parker was well known for her love for life and people. She captured the hearts of those in her presence with her contagious personality and her astounding sense of humor. Many called her "SUNSHINE" because she lit up a room with her bright vibrant smile and warm loving presence. She has touched the lives of many throughout the world through her inspiring ability of writing cards and letters to the sick and those in need.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Tupelo with the Rev. Ray Rooney and Rev. Jim Taylor will officiate. Her nephew, Steve Holland, will deliver the eulogy. Burial with military honors will follow in the Plantersville Cemetery. Holland-Harris Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her two daughters Iva "Ruth" Carnathan-Johnson of Bruce, MS and Janet Herndon-Spears of Brandon, MS - two Son-in-laws Jerry Johnson and Freddie Spears - six grandchildren: Jon Carnathan, Robert "Bobby" Carnathan, Leslie April Carnathan-Clock, Ryan Herndon, Lance Herndon, Leigha Herndon - six great-grandchildren: Kenzley Carnathan, Logan Clock, Janna-Grace Carnathan, Dawson Carnathan, Jessica Clock, Kate Herndon and many loving nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
